Hi there JohnJohnDaDong. Just a quick reminder of the [subreddit rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/foodporn/about/rules/).

Rule 1: As this is a Food Photography forum, the emphasis on submissions posted here must be on presentation. Images must be high quality, with most or all of the food in focus (blurring for artistic purposes is allowed, but must be minimal). The food named in the title must be the focus of the shot. The food must be plated neatly. The lighting within the photo should illuminate the food sufficiently that we are able to see what you are trying to show us. There should be no cutlery visible in the image.

Submissions which break any of the rules will be removed.

Look, I’m no carbonara purist who’s going to tell you that you can’t put cream in your carbonara, but this….. Whatever this is… This is a fucking mess

With a nice parsley salad on the side

  4. look, i would eat it and probably enjoy it. but its all the pretentiousnes in display with none of the quality of the dish. make a good product and then maybe being fancy is a plus

This looks like whole wheat paste in cream, a raw egg yolk, cooked bacon and some parmezan.

Calling this carbonara is like calling spaghetti with ketchup tagliatelli al ragu.

I don’t care what you call it, it looks delicious to me 🤷🏼‍♀️🥂

  8. No no no the pasta looks under cooked the egg looks awful and swimming in cream is gross. What is the green stuff looks like underweight tender stem broccoli!

Not a carbonara elitist but.. egg not incorporated into the sauce, equally likely no Parmesan or Pecorino in the sauce, what looks like bacon rather than pancetta, cream added… weak effort

That could be a lot of things, but sure as fuck it’s NOT carbonara.

I like the idea of nesting the sauce inside the pasta like that. But if you add cream, its too different to be called carbonara. Carbonara also should have black pepper. More importantly tho, it looks like you added way too much cream and the sauce became soupy. The greens on the side are also kind of placed haphazardly, and I personally prefer grating the cheese instead of crumbling it.

I don’t mind using bacon myself. It’s always in the pantry after all and cheaper than the other options.
